Safety in the Home: IPV & Child Maltreatment During the Newborn Period
According to the NIH, at least 5 million acts of domestic violence occur annually to women aged 18 years and older. This month’s webinar will discuss domestic violence, risk factors, and patterns. It will discuss the increased risk of domestic violence during the pregnancy and newborn stages.
Speakers will highlight information on the resources available for mothers and families in the community and how to safety plan in preparation for leaving a violent relationship. This presentation will review child maltreatment during the newborn periods, risk factors impacting child safety, and how to respond if you are concerned for your child’s safety.
From this webinar, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the definition and dynamics of Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence.
- Gain knowledge on the resources available in the community regarding Domestic Violence.
- Recognize signs and symptoms of sentinel injuries and their relationship to child maltreatment.
