Infant and Toddler Development
About the Session: Watching your baby learn new skills is so exciting! Early childhood development is very important since it sets the stage for being ready for school and having healthy relationships. Do you know what your baby should be doing at different stages of development? If you are concerned about your child’s development, where can you find information and early intervention services? This 60-minute webinar will provide an overview of major developmental milestones, information on how to track your baby’s progress, and resources to use if you have concerns.
From this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Understand a general framework for infant and toddler motor, cognitive and social-emotional development.
- Learn significant milestones from birth to 3 years of age.
- Distinguish between developmental screening and developmental evaluations.
- Identify resources and action steps to take if they have concerns about their child’s development
About the Speaker: Debbie Badawi, MD is a Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician in Baltimore, MD. After completing her pediatric residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, she did a fellowship in Behavioral-Developmental Pediatrics at the University of Maryland. Her clinical experience includes primary and specialty care, as well as consultation on multidisciplinary teams in the school system and in health care settings. She is currently the Division Head for Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Her clinical work includes evaluation and management of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and children with complex medical conditions resulting in developmental disabilities. Her non-clinical work focuses on improving the system of care for children with special health care needs, and consequently for all children, their caregivers, and their health care providers.
