kids: caring for every child's mental health

Puppeteers and schools love the Kids on the Block!

Volunteer Diane Megargel, who has been with the program since 1998, says, "I love kids and performing for them! It is most gratifying for me to see the children talk with the puppets in a way that they wouldn't do with adults. I love seeing them laugh and bop to the music.

The kids' emotional reactions sadden me at times, and I am glad that interaction with the puppets allows them to express themselves. I hope this will open them up to talking with their families or the counselors that are present at the performances."

What people are saying about the Kids on the Block:

" The students loved the 'Kids on the Block" and learned valuable problem solving techniques!"

" Great topics - age appropriate, believable and good messages on handling problem situations."

" The students enjoyed themselves and were highly engaged. They were mesmerized by the puppets!"

"We must hasten the day when no child or adolescent need be too hard to handle, too sad to survive, too strange and angry to live among us, too ill to laugh, play and love."
