"Care must focus on increasing consumers’ ability to successfully cope with life’s challenges, on facilitating recovery, and on building resilience, not
just on managing symptoms."

President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health, 2003

Who We Are

The Maryland Coalition on Mental Health and Aging needs your involvement.  There are many opportunities available to help with advocacy and education work.  Our meetings are open to the public and we encourage the participation of professionals, older adults, consumers of mental health services, caregivers and the public.

If you cannot participate in meetings, you can receive meeting minutes and e-mail alerts on education and advocacy activities and information from the aging and mental health communities.

You can also help by facilitating educational programs in your community for the public, students, professionals, faith groups, caregivers, consumers and others.  You can assist with advocacy work during the legislative session or volunteer to assist with the multiple tasks of the Coalition.

Please contact Kim Burton, Director of Older Adult Programs at the Mental Health Association to discuss how your interests, skills and preferences might benefit aging and mental health initiatives. phone 410-235-1178 x 210
